The building industry has come along way in the last 10 years. Technology has come to the building industry and the technology has improve the way we build home. The local codes have forced builder to build to higher standard. Area of the home that have improved have been:

High Tech wiring to keep up with today demands for information and comfort. 4. The enforcing of higher standard for all home by local building officials

The fact is yes "We do not build them like we use to." We build them better.

Here are a few tip before you start building that new home:

1. Don't build too much house for the neighborhood. Having the largest and most expensive house on the block might be good for your ego, but it makes the house significantly more difficult to sell in the future

2. A good rule to follow is to build to the neighbor or build for resale. Sooner or later the house will have to be sold. And a two bedroom, 6 bathroom house may be perfect for you, but will be a disaster when time to sell it.

3. Good Execution needs Good Planning. Take the time to plan out the small details. It is the small details that can transform a simple home into a Custom Home.

4. In all phases of the construction of your new home, watch your construction allowances. For example, if the allowance for light fixtures is $1000, and the ones you pick total $3000, you have to come up with the difference. This can get expensive very fast. Even small over runs add up fast when looking at lights, floor coverings, bath fixtures, kitchen fixtures, appliances, and all the other small things necessary to make your home ready to live in.

5. Last but not least, if you don't have a warm and fuzzy for the builder in the beginning, I promise you it will not get better later. Find a builder who seems to understand your needs and who is easy to work with. Make sure he is being accommodating for the right reason, not because he has to. You have made a good decision to build new. Pick the right home builder, take the time to plan and you will have a home for will cost you less to own over the years.
